THE TREE MAJOR STEPS OF THE PROCEDURE

1 - DRAWING THE NEW HAIRLINE AND/OR OF THE AREA (S) TO BE GRAFTED
This is an essential step. Together with the patient Dr Cahuzac designs the hairline and the area(s) to be covered in order to make sure both parties agree on precisely what is to be done. Thus, the patient knows exactly what to expect from the procedure.

2 - PREPARING THE GRAFTS
The donor area is prepared, the strip of hair-bearing skin removed and the incision stitched. The stitches are not visible and the scar will be very discrete after two months. The assistants cut the strip that has been removed into Micrografts (1 to 2 hairs per graft) or Follicular Units Grafts (F.U.G's, 1 to 4 hairs per graft, as they come out of the scalp), or into Multi Unit Grafts (M.U.G's, 2 to 6 hairs per graft). This is customized, according to the specific needs of the patient.

3 - PLACING THE GRAFTS
Minute incisions are cut in the recipient area. The grafts are then inserted one by one, using very small forceps and magnifying lenses. This is a very precise task requiring a great deal of skill.
